Originally from Logan Heights Jocelyn serves as a board member at large. Coming onboard with Uprise as an intern, while finishing her associates degree at San Diego City College, she is now transferring to UC Berkeley as a pre-law student. She has been actively engaged with working within her community. Jocelyn is active not only on her community college campus, but in her neighborhood, with non profit organizations, and in faith-based groups as well. Jocelyn was an active member of her community college's M.E.Ch.A chapter; she is also part of humanitarian volunteer efforts, like a clothing drive for migrants being held in San Diego deserts; and has volunteered with her church since the age of nine, participating in their fundraising and charity events. She decided to become part of the Uprise board after seeing individuals who were most heavily impacted in the criminal system were members of her own community, the South East. Her goal joining was to help people with guidance and support to address any issues they have encountered. The outcome she hopes to accomplish with this team is to not only contribute to the process of rebuilding people's lives but rebuilding hope in our community as well.
